@shambles925 You've posted some great photos on the Playful Shades and Favourite Camera Roll threads. Is it a hobby/profession or a casual interest? I'd love to hear more (and see more) about your photography.

@Adie Besides looking after Scooby, what interests do you have outside of the UKChat universe? Are you really into Shibari? I'd love to learn about that, it really is an art form and would also present lots of painting, drawing, photography possibilities. I have a new male sub I'd love to try it out on (poor bugger!). Maybe I'll post the results in the photo sharing forum. (Is there a slapstick comedy thread? :D)

Yes, English in the UK is heavily loaded with idiomatic expressions, it really can be a bugger for second language speakers. But...then again when I chat with some of the people up north even that gives my head a spin. I think language is so fun like that though...it isn't a can do can't do so much as a continuous process of learning. I'm sure if you were to meet a lovely German lass you wished to communicate your German skills would pick right up ;)

I have many many hobbies. But recently making stamps is a fun one. I saw a rubber stamp book at the library in the summer which caught my attention. It has been good fun designing and carving little stamps and then making a right mess stamping things. All my Christmas/New Year cards this year are stamped.
Have you had a go at linocut printing? Just like stamping, but on speed. Easy and cheap to get started with. :)

@Cazz From the Live Versions and Under the Covers threads, You seem to have a wide taste in music (great taste :)). Could you say something about the music you love and the music that has influenced you or has special significance for you (if you wish to answer that).

Perhaps give us a Desert Island Discs - Five albums you'd take on a desert island.

Used to play this game with sex toys you and a play partner would take. Now perhaps there's an idea for a new thread?

My range of music is right across the board though I'm not keen on rap or the thrashy type of music.
Absolutely love the 80s as those were my teenage years.
There are songs which mean alot to me and have special significance but it think most people do.
Albums for desert island I think would be Queen.......Made In Heaven. Love queen but I just love that particular album.
Others would be.....Marillion.....Misplaced Childhood
Rainbow......Rainbow Rising
80s mixed album....maybe no 1s of the 80s
Then last would have to be a good heavy metal mix up of AC/DC.....Iron Maiden etc.....all the old school.
Could keep going on with music choices....lol
I did music throughout my schooling until I had exam choices but wanted to pursue other subjects.
I can still just about read a music sheet.....lol
I can be quite sporadic with my music choices as it depends on how I feel at that moment and that can change very quickly.
It's a good way of expressing emotions.

Hope that answered your questions. X

@Firefly I had an idea that you practiced Yoga. It's the way you refer to it. Just intuition, I suppose. I'd love to hear about your experiences of it.
One of my favourite Mandela quotes is "It always seems impossible, until it is done." This is my experience with yoga, again and again. Each time I arrived at a new pose, passed through a sequence or new way of looking at a practice, it has been a long series of impossible things, achieved. It is very confidence building, self affirming. But I agree, it does need finding a teacher/guide who is right for you.

Old nicknames are the best.

I play rugby, taekwondo, swimming, cycling and practice yoga.
Rugby that's a little unusual, lovely game but not one that is overly popular so therefore @Firefly do you like get stuck into a bit of a tackle and like a bit of a rough and tumble?

I'm interested in anything and everything.
I'm very visual and love photography, both film and stils. The composition of shots is something I find interesting both to view and to build or manipulate.
Favorite film Belly of an architect. Visuals are amazing!

I tend to talk in meams so you have coaxed the most text out of me for a long time. However, they do say a picture is worth 1000 words.

I am autistic on the dyslexic scale which means words and numbers are a constant challenge in my life and why I am more comfortable with images which my mind finds easier to interpret.
I have a busy over active mind and my train of thought or logic doesn't always follow that of others. A lot of people don't get me or my dark humour. People also don't like me as I say what I see often without thought or a filter, but hey that's the way I roll. Take me or leave me

You asked what I do in my time, well ghost hunting naturally. I'm usually getting ghosted on here. Lol.

I do love the art of Shibari it asteticaly appeals to my unorthodox mind. Can I do any fancy knots? Not really, I struggle tying my laces some days. Lol.

First of all @Flexi12 thank you for the compliment.

To answer your question at the moment it’s somewhere between a casual interest and a hobby. I say that because I don’t have enough time to take it seriously as a hobby as much as I’d like to.

I’m lucky in that I get to travel a lot around the UK with my work so I see a lot of things that I think make decent photos.

The ones that are seen on here are very often down to being in the right place at the right time and having a decent camera in my phone.

I do however find it a bit of a catch 22 taking pictures particularly on my phone, and digitally in general. It’s great to have the pics available straight away to show, and also delete when they don’t quite work, but when I was younger one of the things I used to enjoy was taking pics on an SLR and waiting for the film to be developed. It didn’t matter if most of the pics were rubbish if there was one photo that came out exactly as you saw it.

I have a decent digital camera that I take on my travels with me when working but one of these days I may actually get my old SLR’s out and go and see what I can find.

Hope the answer isn’t too longwinded and gives a bit of insight that was asked for

@Firefly so where is the best place you know to get Turkish coffee?
Not really. I just bubble it in a sauce pan as I haven't got one of those lovely little Turkish coffee pots.

...
*thinks a bit*
So I guess that means the best place I know, is my kitchen. :)

If a new volcano formed off the Scottish coast and the government had an online contest to see what it would be named, what name would you submit?

Thanks for your open and honest reply. I totally agree that a picture can replace 1000 words. I also think it can express things that words never can. I've always been a visual communicator too. I am trying some writing as well now but it isn't my talent. I can definitely relate to your memes.

I always see dyslexia (that's a rubbish term for it) as a gift which society sticks a price tag on. Being able to see the world just as it is and make connections, solve problems and come up with new approaches to things is a wonderful and valuable thing.

Anyone who doesn't or can't accept one for being oneself isn't worth wasting time on anyway.
