When I started taking pictures years ago it was much more of an artistic endeavor for me and I was satisfied that people were reacting to my artwork. It was motivation to work more on my photography and to invest time in creating and sharing that artwork.

Originally I used them a lot more in chat because they would get the room excited and they would get conversation starting and people would start talking about the picture and then they'd start talking to each other and it would just you know lubricate things. Or they were jokes that would supplement the conversation. Offer someone a cup of tea, or towel...

I stopped doing that because there are some mean scary motherfuckers out there who save pictures, come back on under different names weeks later under different aliases and then try to like taunt you with I know who you are and you don't know who I am. Which I understand what they find fun about that but I don't find that fun at all and so I don't really want to play that game so I stopped sharing and chat.

I think a lot of the people who I enjoy interacting with are visual people and they enjoy seeing something that triggers their imagination and then I like going and working on those stories with their imagination or their imaginings.

Responses in thread are good because they become a testing ground for an interaction or a relationship with someone online. They also stimulate other people within the community. We get see how different Chatters interact or how different people interact or get ideas that are fun ways to interact.
