An Indian chief’s three wives were giving birth. One wife lay on a bearskin hide,one wife on a lions hide,the third on a hippopotamus hide. The wife on the bearskin hide had a son, the wife on the lions hide a daughter and the wife on the hippopotamus hide had twins a girl and a boy.
This demonstrates the maths theorem that the squaw of the hippopotamus hide is equal to the sum of the squaws on the other two hides
