For what little it's worth, in my opinion Joseph Heeler's Catch-22 is one of the greatest anti war novels ever written. But I'm a fucking idiot so don't take it from me. It's also commonly referred to as such. Brutal and frenetic and painfully funny. But also maddeningly sad. Another one I read in my late teens gaining little and returned to again and again being evermore richly rewarded as I aged. A fucking furiously good book.

Also you can see my man-boobs. Twice. In slightly different ways.

how many times have I flung this book at the door, the wall, the floor...painfully funny, maddeningly sad...feeling being betrayed by your own imagination...good place to start this one.

Thats such a perfect way of putting it "betrayed by your own imagination" Beautiful.

If I've understood you correctly I felt exactly the same way. It took several attempts. Like i had to practice reading it. But it was worth it.

If i haven't understood you correctly...look!! Man-boobs!!!
