Probably a thread that will appeal more to chatters/music heads of a certain vintage this one.

In the days before YouTube, Spotify and all those other platforms we now use to download our music, we were limited to purchases of 7" Singles and LP's. (We did have TV in those days kids, but only 3 channels).

So - what's your favourite Album?

An album that changed your life?

An album that initially got you into music?

An Album that made your jaw drop?

An album that resonated then? and now?

If I was asked this question tomorrow, I'd probably give a different answer, but today, I'm going to go for the first album I ever owned, aged 11, an album that blew my mind and made me a lifelong music head:

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars (by David Bowie)

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon for the soundscape it creates that you can immerse yourself in.
Verve's A Northern Soul particularly resonated with me when I first experienced it. As with many bands, their early efforts are the most haunting.
Ladytron's Witching Hour is something I regularly put on if I just want some energy.
Oasis's Definetly Maybe for the sheer swagger of believing that you are something better than you are.

Many many more, but gives you an idea of how I consume music

Favourite album. I think as much because of where I was in my life at that time as much as the quality of the actual music.

Truly, a man after my own heart.

Back in the early 90's was about the time myself and my contempories were all engaged in the collective madness of MARRYING girls (eugh).

The unspoken rule was that none of us were considered actually married until 'the lads' had moshed drunkenly, en masse, to the full version of 'I am The Resurrection' (You could always see how impressed the new in-laws were by this).

Then, over then next 20 years or so, children were not considered baptised until ....... yeah, you know it. (By this stage, the in-laws had all been re-educated and smiled tolerantly).

Then came the divorce parties. (The in laws weren't invited.)

We've discussed funerals - touch wood, haven't had one yet - but you know what's gonna happen (assuming the sciatica's, arthritis', high blood pressures, dicky tickers, gluten intolerences, etc allow).

Early Genesis and some other prog rock did it for me first, then Pink Floyd which lead on to other guitar stuff like Jeff Beck, Steely Dan, Dire Staits and evetually Clapton. If I had to pick one today it would probably be 461 Ocean Blvd.
