Is there any way of making a private room so that more than two people can chat together but only if they have been invited to join the room?

It would be nice to have one or two others in the room but not all of the people in main who you don't want with you.

There's currently not the facility to open your own private chat room

The only problem with this is that if people are disappearing into private rooms it would make the main rooms even quieter than they already are. I think this has caused a downfall on many other chat apps etc (ie kik).

Good point, I also think it would be good if more of the guests became members but not sure how you could get that to happen easily.

Agreed. That would be a tough one to implement. Unless you get rid of the guest option completely or limit the time you can actually be a guest for. Again, that may affect participation in the rooms though. Dunno. Lol.

There used to be private rooms here but they were stopped because it killed the chat in the main rooms because with the right people in they were fun

There use to be the option to make Private rooms before the site update. This option went with the site update. Getting anyone to actually say anything in the main chat rooms is virtually impossible as is.

There’s still a link in the DM’s to invite other people but it doesn’t work which would have been another option

Just use one of the empty rooms.
if someone you don't want to talk to joins, tell them they will be ignored because you are having a small group chat and it is nothing personal against them, and then put them (and instruct your "circle") on your ignore list. it will be like a private room. (with flies on the wall) It sometimes seems a bit anti-social to ignore people...but sometimes it just helps you relax and enjoy your small group of friends. Does it really matter if others are eavesdropping?

I mean unless you are plotting something illegal.

That is actually a pretty good idea, but I can't ever remember seeing a completely empty room.
