I love you're two cents
Absolutely for a good shape food is everything

@JamesMarcus121212 what is your Fitness background?

For me being physically active is more for mental happiness.

@johnny85 to answer your questions: almost every day whether commuting by bike or walking to the shop or dancing around the kitchen.

In terms of deliberately intense exercise, two or three times a month, although I've taken to jogging most evenings of late because I can't spend as much time in the sun thanks to modern medicine.

And I don't tend to get grouchy but after a week or 10 days of not really doing anything I do get kind of slow and sad and out of focus. So I try not to let that happen.
I was overweight and got in shape over lockdown.

Just running. ;)

Question: Does anyone do HIIT? Where do you get your workout menus?

@JamesMarcus121212 What triggered you to build your body into what it is now? What are some of the lifestyle changes you made during that process? Was it easy / easier/ harder than you expected?

The lockdowns felt a lot like prison and a lot of people work out in prison to pass the time. I was also inspired by a couple of shows I watched in lockdown.

I wanted to make the best out of a bad situation and made a lot of life changes, getting in shape was only one of them. I am happy to share more info here in private but not publicly.

Specifically relating to my body transformation: I went vegan, learned how my body and mind works, became an amateur dietician, started prioritizing sleep more, drank more water, started slow with the workouts and slowly upped the weights/reps when I stopped feeling the burn/fatigue and started forming a routine that worked for me and built good habits.

It was easier than expected. The hardest part is starting. I have tried to help friends make similar changes but they don't have the desire to start the snowball moving down the hill that I had, which I find very frustrating, because it is doable for a lot of people.

I will also add that I never really thought before that I was in terrible shape. I was pretty happy with myself until I wasn't and I was thinking to myself, "I wonder if I worked really hard for a few months, could I have visible abs?" It took me 4 months of working out every single day (which was probably excessive and counter productive in hindsight).

There's honestly so much that I can say here. I could write a book about it. I'm leaving a lot of stuff out.

It can be so hard to see a new path, but once you start down it, it leaves you shocked as to what you were afraid of.

Sometimes life calls for a little excess. Especially when creating change.

Are you still maintaining a vegan diet, or have you transitioned into something more hybrid?

running up a hill?? Or going really fast? Lol

Have a peloton so use the workouts on there! Would happily share though if you need some exercises and reps etc :)

I'm still vegan. It's been just over two years and something I'm planning to maintain indefinitely.

I have always been a very driven person. I get what I want. That becomes a lot more obvious when you hear about the other changes I made and achievements in the past couple of years. My weight was never something I felt like I needed to change, until I did. Using your metaphor, that path was hidden but once I found it I had no problems heading down it.

I am pretty surprised just how in shape I have gotten though. I tend to overachieve on my goals but I didn't think the body I have now was physically possible for me. I wanted abs and to be in 'good' shape, and ended up with veins crawling up my abs. I'm in 'excellent' shape and I'm pretty happy with myself. I have always felt like I can do anything I set my mind to and this has reinforced that belief tremendously.
