Why do you think people make them? I am genuinely interested in human behavior and would like to hear other peoples take on it. I guess it may be mainly guys who do it, but to what end?
I personally think they make them to trick people into feeling secure and to satisfy their own needs. It’s mainly guys you’re right and most of them aren’t very subtle either

It is a bit sad that some people have nothing better to do with their time.
Admittedly I don't understand why someone would want a fake persona
Isn't life busy and hard enough with out pretend to be some one your not?
I would suggest learn to love yourself first. Decided what you Want in life and
Do everything in your power to be happy, be real and have fun.

It is sad but true that there are plenty of fake profiles not just on this site but others that I have used over the years , there are a lot more men than ladies on here so I suppose the numbers suggest that , as for percentages I have no idea. It is worth mentioning that this being a free site means it is easier to create , fake or numerous profiles if someone wishes. As for their reasons it could be anything from not wanting their other half to know they are playing to frauds scams etc. All I would add is that if something seems to be too good to be true , then it most probably is !!!

Men have nothing better to do but to catfish other men into believing of actually thinking they’re gonna mate but most of the time it’s a scam… But lots of men get horny easily and especially when it comes to pics they’re from the net…

I imagine there are a wide variety of reasons for creating a fake account,

- boosting numbers/attention to a real account you want to get noticed
- exploring something you are keeping in a closet and haven't found the real-world people to love and support
- self-esteem building
- self delusion
- attention seeking (this is both a positive and negative reason). Anyone can feel invisible at times in their life and wanting to be seen as "kind, funny, cute, sexy, gorgeous, desirable etc" but not have the self-value/worth to seek that attention to your real-world self. It is very very easy to break someone's self esteem/sense of self worth or value...and can take a lot of supported work to rebuild it. Sometimes the easy road, of lying, feels like the only way to get there.
- boredom
- schadenfreude (pleasure derived from other people suffering)
- trying to "kill/deny" something in oneself by projecting it onto others
- humiliation kink (without a healthy understanding of consent)
- information gathering (this is annoying as fuck)
- gender-bending as a way of expressing a desire to act that one can't enact in the real-world
- beta-testing chat bots
- developing AI code

There are a handful of "fake" accounts who message me, while their avatar names change, there are certain turns of phrase or whatnot that let me recognize them. And the conversation invariably leads to somewhere of "I'm lonely" or "I want something I can't have" or "I love my life, but..." which I interpret as "I'm scared" Those are all huge feelings to deal with.

Sometimes hiding behind an avatar is a way of putting down things that are too heavy to carry.
People enjoy getting lost in a good story. We wouldn't have some much literature/TV/media if we didn't.

You have made some very good points there , I certainly agree with the one about " the certain turns of phrase " I have had messages that are supposedly from different people who in my opinion have re invented themselves with a new identity. It is always wise to be a bit cautious. However to end on a positive note there are some nice genuine people on here, its just a few that spoil things, I dont mind the harmless fantasist types it is those who are abusive or out to commit fraud that I have no time for.

@Ianwxx It's really good that you don't have time for abusive/manipulative people and that you know how to recognize them.

Which really is an important skill when you engage in chatting with Anonymous strangers as we all do here.
