After seeing so many people get upset by their experience and expectations of chat forums I thought I’d put a few basic pointers here ( feel free to add more )
This is not a reflection on anyone just a basic what to expect guide.
It is not a finger pointing exercise
There are rules and reading them will help you
1. Chat forums intended use is clear in the title. It’s to chat not be a cheapo dating site. If things go that way then lucky you I’m really happy for you .
2. There are lots of scammers and strange and fake profiles on these sites .
There’s lots of indicators of a fake profile mainly tending to be an outrageous name and an immediate full on post . You’ll see when you browse a little.
3. There are all persuasions in here it’s rude to judge them . Learning to identify the obvious signs of an alternative lifestyle will save you frustration.
Lesbians tend to be looking to chat to women though being polite often helps and just because a gay guy is talking to you doesn’t mean he’s going to jump out of the internet at you.
4. Don’t expect everyone to talk to you they’re here for their own reasons. If you say hello and get ignored it might just be the person you’re chatting to hasn’t noticed so try again but if after a few attempts to talk there’s still no answer that’s a fair indication they don’t want to talk.
5. Look at a persons profile it usually says their last date of visit if it’s not recent there little chance of a reply
It’s the same with a thread if the original poster hasn’t visited in months or it’s been months since the original post and they’ve never visited that thread again there’s little chance of your post getting noticed.
I hope this helps you have a better experience with forums however chat rooms are a totally different ball game and you will need thick skin and sharp wits to survive them lol
