Theres been a lot of talk recently about fake profiles. I am new to this game and by nature very trusting, probably too much sometime, I take people at their word. For us 'newbies' what tips are there for spotting fake profiles, if any? Thoughts appreciated.

In what sense do you consider a profile to be fake? Or what kind of fakes are you trying to avoid?
What is your purpose for using an anonymous free chat site?

I mean, pornography is all 100% fake. Even POV/homemade porn is made to be consumed.
But it is still good...

I think the first tip is to be conscious of your own motivation for engaging this space.
Are you looking just to fill free time? Are you looking to make temporary connections with strangers for self gratification? Are you looking to start a real world relationship? or an online long term relationship? or a long term role play relationship? Looking to engage in casual political debate, occasionally get a giggle from some memes and then enjoy a well earned wank?

Once you have a clear idea about your own motivations you can better judge what other people here may be looking for. Helping you connect with people with like interests, goals and motivations.

I think the easiest way to identify a toxic/fake account is that they won't come to you. It is unlikely they will inbox you. It is unlikely they will message you first. So don't walk into their honey trap...

Next, what kind of fakes are you trying to avoid?

1. The person behind the profile is malicious, looking to harvest personal info like phone numbers or to recruit people into paid services.
2. The person behind the profile is misleading, deceptive for the sake of ultimately trying to humiliate others who they interact with.
3. The person behind the profile is playing out their own fantasy, enjoying the positive even if "undeserved" attention.
4. The person behind the profile is only interested in online fantasy play and not in any sort of real world interaction, thus create accounts that only satisfy their fantasy.

I'm sure there are other ways to think of a profile as fake.

Look at the timing of joining to first posting of explicit content. Someone who joins up and starts positing explicit content immediately probably has a lot of experience with various chat services. This might mean that they are chatting professionally. Looking to recruit customers. Or enjoy catfishing and are looking to catch people off guard.

Look at accounts of people you judge to be real...observe the kind of information they allow you to see, the people they follow, the kinds of comments and reactions on their walls...then use that as a kind of baseline for assessing accounts of people you are unfamiliar with.

Above all, genuine human interaction takes time. Don't rush into things. Let new friendships bloom and blossom in their own time.

Fake accounts are part and parcel of free sites and something to accept.
Feel free as others have done and call out the fakes.

FAF list

I think we should create a list and add photos for the FAFs in here, (Fake As F##k) what are people's thoughts. The share my pics forum is turning into copy and paste from Google image searches these days. Although it's a lot of fun to call them out. Seems to have gotten a lot worse last few months.

GAF (genuine as fuck!)

OK guys and gals, so the point of this thread is to provide a space where we can verify ourselves as authentic profiles. As many of you are aware, we are often hit with bots, ‘e-whores’, cat fishers and men who pretend to be females, who then clutter the Forums with ridiculous posts and pictures...

Not all cartoon characters are fake!
Have fun.

Firefly, as always a very thoughtful answer giving thought to what is Fake. I was initially thinking of the basic example of someone pretending to be what they are not for example man pretending to be a women or visa versa but you raise some excellent points. As you say a genuine connection will take time. It is always good advice to anyone to be careful what information they share. Thank you.

Adie, Thank you for your thoughts. As I said to Firefly my initial thoughts were people pretending to be who they are not. Posting images from the Internet is fine as long as they don't give the impression it is something else. We all ce to the forum for our own reasons , nothing wrong with fantasy or role play as long as people know.

I think we have to look deeper into the whole 'fake' profile and ask ourselves
WHY the profile is fake, or at least why are they using picture's that aren't of themselves.
We live in a high pressure world with the 'airbrushed' media, social media models all over insta and facebook and a society that brain washes us to believe we have to look a certain way. Blue eyed blond haired stick thin girls, or six packed tummies with huge shoulders, perfect skin, no pimples or blemishes, no stretch marks no cellulite. But let's be honest ...do we all look like that ..NO. some of us and me included have self esteem issues. We're not entirely happy with the way we look and we're not comfortable sharing pictures of our body (I've deleted the ones I've posted) . These issues could have someone feeling very low and lonely.
They get comments on the pictures they post both naughty and complimentary and those comments just might make them feel good or smile, and maybe for a short while feel better about themselves, they might feel up lifted and go out with there head higher than normal.
After all behind every profile is a 'real' person.
So the pretense or 'fakery' as some call it ... well doesn't so bad after all does it

We all do what we need to do to get through this shit world sometimes

I totally understand where you are coming from with respect to self esteem issues and the fact that this forum allows to us all to escape to some degree, me included. No on should be disrespected or shamed no matter who they are or what they look like we are all human beings with something to offer and should be valued for that. What I am talking about is people pretending to be what they are not i.e a male pretending to be a female or vice versa which causes people to post things in a certain way. Everyone should be respected.

Have you had much experience with a "fake" female account? What happened? How did things play out?

Firstly I think you make a valid point and my reply isn't posted in an argumentative manner (I hate drama ans would never deliberately cause it) but what if that guy who is portraying as female (not 'pretending ....not saying you are transfobic in anyway I would never imply this on people I don't a totally know, but that statement has connotations) is actually a secret crossdresser and deep down would prefer to be female and is completely terrified to do anything about it. Portraying as female and getting the attention that females get in sites like this has the same effect to there self esteem. After all the guys that respond to messages they get back whether naughty or just chat also get a kick out of it .... so I still don't see anyharm in the posts or chats .....its all fantasy here

^^^^ this is why I don't agree with "calling out" people one perceives as fake.

If they aren't doing harm (something illegal, against TOU, or to cause real world hurt to other users) walk on by...at most gently push other users to be more critical of who they are interacting with, and if you see it as a real issue perhaps harming fun for all on the site, inbox the user and ask for their side of things.

Thank you all for all of your considerd and thoughtful insight in to what I thought was a simple question, there have been a lot of valid points. I totally agree that this forum is and area where people should be able to fantasise, pretend and even seek annonimity for what ever reaoson they want/need. My initial thoughts behind this thread was why people seek to maliciously mislead people, maybe that was too black and white a question. It has certainly given me food for thought so again thank you.
