UK Chat can be a fun site, with flirting and picture sharing in forums and chat. It would make you wonder why someone would create a post that says 'contact me via kik/email/sc/etc' when there's a private messaging system that is perfectly adequate (well, apart from not being able to share pictures over them, but then there are private chats where you can).
Aside from those who want to get maximum response with minimum effort, there are some people who insist on posting their personal details in public forums.
As a warning of what might happen to you, Dan Lobb made a documentary a few years ago, after being caught out himself by a catfish profile.
"On the show, Dan admitted how he ‘instantly regretted’ the video, saying he performed a sex act ‘in front of a pretty girl, who I thought was in front of her camera’."
Don't trust anyone who posts their contact details on their first post. They just want gullible people to reply, so they don't have to work at creating a connection on the site.
Don't post your contact details in public forums. Being public, anyone can see them, and before you know it, you've receiving junk and abuse on your snapchat, kik, email, even phone (some people actually post their own phone numbers!).
If you want to take things further off-site, use a 'disposable' email address. Don't give your actual email - you can use gmail accounts for Skype too. And if everything goes Pete Tong, and it gets flooded with abuse/spam/junk, you can just leave it behind.
Have fun responsibly!
