beautiful song and so true and love the pussy cat I have two
Thanks for the nod. The avatar is, or sadly, was Bob, ( named by one of the kids after Bob Catley of Magnum ). Although never a lap cat, until his later years, he passed age 21, he was the friendliest cat we ever had. He would always 'talk' to anyone who came to the door. We had one post lady who he used to accompany on her round in our road. When I say he was friendly, that was only to people, anything on four legs had to take it's chances. His hobby was fox hunting!

This was a great idea for thread, not sure why more people don't participate.

Here is another song about sadness, regret, and the realisation you left things drift far too long. Neil diamond sings Tom Paxton's 'The last thing on my mind'

I saw Paxton live back in the 60s ... you know you are getting old when you tell youngsters you saw 'The Beatles' live and they say 'The who?'. My usual answer is 'Nah, never saw them play'.

thanks and another good song. it's a sex site so not as exciting for them it's just that I can say so much more about me and my feelings with music which is why I started it.

my two are aged 13 and 5 1/2 I have had other cats but none lived as long as yours. Currently one keeps leaving mice on the doorstep usually headless lol although I did find a feather the other day. Well Bob looks wonderful I have a tabby she is 13 and my ginger and white is 5 he is beginning to look like Garfield with the size he is getting to. lol Thanks for reminding me of the songs

After the last two sad songs here;s a quickie strictly for laughs. I only found this a couple of hours ago. Someone wrote a parody of 'The Last Thing On My Mind', he was sent a copy that had been found on the internet, here is the man himself singing it.

I was thinking of what to post next when I realised that I knew, not a song, but a piece of music that could evoke a wide range of feelings, capable of produce both tears of joy and tears of sadness. It is my favourite piece of classical music both one of the most requested to be played at a weddings, and at a funerals. It is Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel. If you are not a fan of classical music stick around you will enjoy this.

So what makes it special? There is the progression, a series of 8 notes or chords which are repeated or looped over and over again. Although Pachelbel was known for his organ pieces, over 100, the Canon was written for 3 violins and something like a cello which provides a continuous base line. The violins provide the Canon, the 1st violin starts the progression after a short while the 2nd violin plays the same progression, then after another pause the 3rd plays the same progression and so on, After his death his music fell out of fashion for over 300 years. it was rediscovered in the early 1900s and popularity came slowly, it was only in the1970s that the public became aware of it due to it's use at weddings, movie soundtracks and TV ads. Because he is only really known for this ons piece of music he was dismissed as a 'one hit wonder'.

Pete Waternan of Stock, Aitkin, Waterman howver has different name for him. 'The Godfather of modern pop music'. Here is why ...

All those songs, and dozens of others, use Pachelbel's Progression, some blatantly some not so. There will of course sometimes be changes to the key or tempo or similar. I mentioned that public awareness and popularity of the Canon soared during the 70's, so did groups developing their own unique l progressions. A coincidence? So was he a one hit wonder or the godfather of modrn pop?
