need to find out what type of chemicals they are but firstly immediate and thorough flushing with cool water is crucial for treating chemical burn making sure not allowing water to run onto other parts of skin, then get immediate medical treatment as chemicals can continue to burn for hrs , make sure take label or container with you

Thank you for the reply.
i should have been more clear. The burn started about 10 days ago. Initial care has gone well. It's the next phase of care I need assistance with. I change the dressing twice daily and have a steroid petroleum based ointment.

I also use caster oil (as this is the only heavy duty moisture locking oil i have available at the moment, wondering if shea or coco butter would be better) My skin is starting to feel hard and tight and I'm wondering if there is other things I can do to help support the healing skin.
I'm in to see the skin doctor on Wednesday...so just for the interim.

it depends on the level of burn depth , normally you never use any oil based creams on chemical burns, shea butter, coconut oils are used for scar management once healing , water based ointments are preferred

The skin isn't broken. The burn is a kind of extreme contact dermatitis.

In terms of water based ointment any recommendations? Like an aloe or something?

aloe is perfect , silver sulphadiazine cream is good or hydrocortisone creams
