Sometimes you may need to open the gif in its own tab

Some websites also make their gifs unusable by giving them extremely long URLs...so you have to use a URL shortener first

also are you sure you are using the picture icon and not the media icon (it happens to the best of us)
Also you could check your browser/device are updated// clear your cashe...sometimes something funky is going on there that interferes with life
