I did.

But there is a lot of 'chaff' out there.

I think there are different sorts of profiles out there.

There are lots of the bots or scammer profiles.
There are some who just want to talk sexy, and make some online friends.
There are some looking to have what's termed as microaffairs.- online only affairs, away from the prying eyes and noses of family members.
And then there's a very few who would like to meet, but after getting to know a bit about you first - any that offer to meet up straight away should be treated with extreme skepticism.
